Banner joins Mitre 10 to form a strategic alliance!

South Australian family-owned Banner Hardware has joined forces with Australia’s largest independent hardware retailer, Mitre 10.

The alliance is across the Banner network of 7 retail stores, two frame and truss manufacturing plants, distribution centre and Home Select showroom. Banner retail stores will be rebranded as Banner Mitre 10.

The new joint venture will see the Evins family continue to run the day-to-day operations of Banner Mitre 10. All staff will keep their jobs and remain in their current positions. Managing Director Matt Evins and Director James Evins will retain their leadership roles.

Matt Evins, who will be Banner Mitre 10 Managing Director, said his company had entered the alliance to provide an improved experience for retail and trade customers and as part of Banner’s growth plans.

“Mitre 10 is Australia’s best independent hardware brand while Banner is a South Australian icon with strong customer loyalty and a significant share of industry trade,” he said.

“Banner Mitre 10 will continue to be operated by the Evins family.

“This strategic alliance gives us the opportunity to join a branded national buying group while remaining independent and undertake major upgrades to all our stores.

“This will allow us to offer our retail customers a broader range of products, better shopping experience and stronger advertising support.

“It also provides significant advantages for our trade customers.

“The alliance complements other recent trade initiatives such as our Trade First Customer Excellence and Platinum Builders Club trade loyalty programs and streamlined truss, manufacturing and distribution facilities.

“We are looking forward to strong growth for Banner Mitre 10 into the future. The alliance also forms part of Banner’s longer-term strategy, giving us greater leverage to expand our network of retail stores as we actively look for new sites.”

Mitre 10 CEO, Mr Mark Laidlaw, said the new alliance formed part of the group’s national expansion plans.

“This partnership with Banner Hardware will allow Mitre 10 to increase our presence in South Australia. It will provide an important platform for future growth in South Australia," Mr Laidlaw said.

“The key to this joint venture is that it allows the owners to keep growing their own business but doing so with the support of Mitre 10. We have several of these joint venture arrangements in other States, they play an important role in growing the Mitre 10 store network in specific regions broadening our footprint."

Banner Mitre 10 will progressively rebrand and upgrade its stores over the next 12 months.
